NiSource is an energy holding company whose principal subsidiaries are fully regulated natural gas and electric utility companies serving approximately 3.8 million customers across six states. Its two reportable segments are Columbia Operations, which provides natural gas through five Columbia subsidiaries, and NIPSCO Operations, which provides both gas and electric service in Indiana.
NiSource derives substantially all revenues from rate-regulated businesses and pursues long-term infrastructure investment, safety programs, and environmental initiatives supported by regulatory engagement across each operating state. In 2025, the company entered a customized agreement to supply electric service to a data center customer through its GenCo subsidiary, which will develop dedicated generation assets to serve that load.
