SPZCO — Data Sources & Attribution
Every number in SPZCO traces to a disclosed source. This page lists each source we use, what it provides, the license class it is used under, and the attribution it requires. Analytics, valuations, and modeled outputs are computed by SPZCO from these inputs — see the Methodology pages for how, and the Disclaimer for what these numbers are and are not.

SEC / EDGAR (U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission)
- What it provides: U.S. public-company filings — XBRL financial statements (10-K/10-Q), 8-K current reports, Form 13F institutional holdings (including the SEC's bulk 13F data sets), and Form 4 insider transactions.
- License class: U.S. government works — public domain (17 U.S.C. § 105). Accessed per the SEC's fair-access guidelines with a declared identifying User-Agent.
- Attribution: Source: SEC EDGAR. Filing-level views link back to the original filing.
STOCK Act disclosures (U.S. House & Senate)
- What it provides: Members of Congress's securities-transaction disclosures (Periodic Transaction Reports) shown on the congressional-trades page. Amounts are the disclosed ranges, as filed.
- License class: Public government records.
- Attribution: Source: U.S. House / Senate financial-disclosure portals. Member metadata
(party, chamber) from the
congress-legislatorsopen dataset (public-domain / CC0 dedication).
FINRA — consolidated equity short interest
- What it provides: Bimonthly consolidated short-interest positions per symbol (shares short, average daily volume, days to cover) reported by member firms under FINRA Rule 4560 — the short-interest card on the ownership tab and the short-interest screener columns.
- License class: Publicly disseminated FINRA data, accessed through FINRA's public Query API (no authentication required for this dataset); displayed and analyzed within SPZCO, not redistributed as a feed.
- Attribution: Source: FINRA equity short interest. FINRA® is a registered trademark of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority; SPZCO is not affiliated with FINRA.
ECB — euro foreign exchange reference rates
- What it provides: Daily EUR reference rates used to present non-USD financials in USD (the native → USD view for foreign names).
- License class: Free to reuse with source acknowledgment, per the ECB's copyright and reference-rate usage terms. The rates are reference (indicative) rates, not tradable quotes.
- Attribution: Source: European Central Bank.
EDINET (Financial Services Agency, Japan)
- What it provides: Japanese public-company filings (IFRS and JP-GAAP annual reports) for the Japan coverage.
- License class: Used via the EDINET API under its terms of use — the Government of Japan Standard Terms of Use, which are stated to be compatible with CC BY 4.0.
- Attribution: Source: EDINET (Financial Services Agency, Japan).
ESEF filings via filings.xbrl.org (XBRL International)
- What it provides: European Single Electronic Format (ESEF) annual filings — the IFRS financials for the European coverage (e.g., Poland, Sweden, France-listed names).
- License class: The filings.xbrl.org repository publishes its collected filings index under CC0; the underlying filings are public regulatory disclosures.
- Attribution: Source: filings.xbrl.org (XBRL International).
GLEIF — Legal Entity Identifier data
- What it provides: LEI → ISIN mapping used by the identity bridge that links European filers to listed tickers.
- License class: CC0 (GLEIF publishes LEI data with no restrictions on use).
- Attribution: Source: GLEIF.
OpenFIGI (Bloomberg L.P.)
- What it provides: ISIN → FIGI → exchange-ticker mapping used only to identify listings (no market data is taken from it).
- License class: FIGI identifiers are an open standard, available at no cost and freely usable per the OpenFIGI terms of service.
- Attribution: FIGI is a standard of the Object Management Group; OpenFIGI is provided by Bloomberg L.P.
SSGA (State Street Global Advisors) issuer fund-data files
- What it provides: Daily constituent holdings of SPY and the sector SPDR ETFs, used for the ETF look-through feature in PORT.
- License class: Public issuer-published fund-data files (no explicit open license); fetched directly from the issuer's website with an honest identifying User-Agent, used for display and analysis only, not redistributed as a feed.
- Attribution: Source: State Street Global Advisors fund data. SPDR® is a trademark of its owner; SPZCO is not affiliated with SSGA.
Marketstack (licensed commercial feed)
- What it provides: End-of-day equity prices — the price feed behind charts, returns, and every price-dependent analytic.
- License class: Commercial license (paid subscription). The raw feed may not be redistributed or resold; it is displayed and analyzed within SPZCO only, per the vendor's terms.
- Attribution: Market data provided by Marketstack.
Mauboussin & Callahan — base-rate research (Credit Suisse)
- What it provides: The empirical, size-conditioned sales-growth base-rate distributions (1950–2015) that the Expectations page scores reverse-DCF implied growth against.
- License class: Published research, used by citation — the distributions are cited and characterized; the publication is not reproduced.
- Attribution: Michael J. Mauboussin & Dan Callahan, The Base Rate Book, Credit Suisse Global Financial Strategies (2016).
TradingView Lightweight Charts™
- What it provides: The charting library rendering the price, RSI, and rolling-risk charts. A software dependency, not a data source.
- License class: Apache License 2.0, with a NOTICE-file attribution requirement.
