FirstEnergy Corp. is an investor-owned electric utility engaged in electricity transmission, distribution, and generation. The company serves over six million customers across approximately 65,000 square miles in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, and New York through regulated subsidiaries, with a combined rate base of approximately $21.3 billion as of December 31, 2025.
FirstEnergy operates more than 24,000 miles of transmission lines and two regional transmission operations centers. Its subsidiaries include Ohio Edison, Cleveland Electric Illuminating, Toledo Edison, FE PA (Pennsylvania), Jersey Central Power and Light, Potomac Edison, and Monongahela Power, the last of which also controls 3,610 MW of generation capacity. The combined service territory encompasses approximately 14 million residents.
