AES is a global energy company incorporated in 1981 that develops, owns, and operates electric generation assets and regulated utilities, with a generation portfolio of 34,740 MW diversified across fuel types and technologies. In the U.S., it operates regulated utilities AES Indiana and AES Ohio; outside the U.S., it provides renewable energy under long-term contracts to large mining companies and other corporate customers. AES's strategy centers on delivering long-term contracted renewable power primarily to data center operators and large corporations. As of 2025, the company held a signed-contract backlog of 12.0 GW with 5.7 GW under construction, and completed 3.2 GW of solar, energy storage, and wind capacity during the year. AES Indiana and AES Ohio are characterized as among the fastest-growing U.S. utilities by rate base investment.
