SPZCO — Citation & Attribution Policy

This page says what you may quote from SPZCO, how to attribute it, and where the line is. It is a standalone public permission granted by SPZCO — it stands on its own, it is open to anyone whether or not they hold an account, and it ADDS to the licence in Section 2 of the Terms of Use rather than being granted under it. It takes no rights away. Where this page grants something the Terms would otherwise restrict, this page governs for the specific uses described below. Everything else in the Terms — including Section 4.2 on automated access and bulk downloading — continues to apply unchanged.

1. Facts as filed may be quoted, with attribution

A fact as filed is a figure or statement that a company, a filer, a public official, or a public registry published, and that SPZCO reproduces: a line from an SEC filing, a reported 13F position, a disclosed congressional or executive-branch transaction, a clinical-trial registry field, a regulator-published rate.

You may quote a reasonable number of such facts — in an article, a note, a post, a paper, a presentation, or an answer — provided you attribute them. Use this form, naming the underlying source as well as us:

Source: SPZCO, spzco.com, from [the filing or registry].

For example: Source: SPZCO, spzco.com, from the issuer's Form 10-K — or from Form 13F — or from ClinicalTrials.gov. Where a page links the original document, a link to that document alongside the attribution is welcome and is better for your reader than either source alone.

We ask that you attribute rather than merely gesture: "according to a database" is not attribution, and neither is a quotation with no source at all.

2. Search engines and AI assistants may index and cite

Search engines, answer engines, and AI assistants may crawl SPZCO's public pages, index them, and cite them with a link. Quoting a fact as filed in an answer, with attribution as above and a link to the page it came from, is permitted and encouraged.

This permission is for indexing and citation. It is not a licence to reproduce a page or a section of the database wholesale, to build a substitute product from our compiled records, or to train on bulk-extracted copies of them; those are Section 3 below. Automated access beyond indexing and citation remains subject to robots.txt and to the Terms.

3. Bulk copying of the compiled dataset requires a licence

SPZCO's value is in the compilation — the extraction, parsing, cleaning, structuring, cross-referencing, and enrichment of records that are individually public. Terms Section 3.2 states the position: we claim no ownership of the underlying public records in their original form, and the compilation of them is ours.

So: quoting facts is free, and copying the dataset is not. Systematic or substantial extraction — whole tables, whole classes of page, a mirror of a screen, a feed built from our pages, or any volume that functions as a copy of the database rather than a citation of it — requires a written licence. Ask: support@spzco.com.

If you want data at volume, ask rather than scrape. It is usually cheaper for you and always simpler for us, and the answer is frequently yes.

4. Everything labelled estimated stays reserved

Nothing on this page grants any right in SPZCO's modelled outputs: fair-value and DCF estimates, scores, rankings, screens, backtests, "13F implied return" replications, and any other figure the Service labels as estimated, modelled, or hypothetical (Terms Section 7). Those are our analysis rather than anybody's filing, they are reserved in full, and they may not be quoted, republished, or redistributed without written permission.

The distinction is the same one the product itself draws. What a filer filed is a fact, and this page opens it. What SPZCO computed is ours.

5. Trademarks, and what this page is not

"SPZCO" and the SPZCO marks are ours; attributing a quotation to us is not a licence to use our marks as your own branding, and nothing here implies that SPZCO endorses you or your work.

This page is a permission about copying and citation. It is not investment advice, and it does not change the Disclaimer, the warranty position, or the limitation of liability in the Terms.

Not everything on a SPZCO page is ours to open. Where a third party's terms sit on a feed we carry, those terms sit on top of everything above and we cannot grant past them. Three classes:

  • Feeds carried under a commercial vendor licence — the end-of-day price vendor above all (Terms Section 4.9). Prices and anything that is a republication of that feed are not covered by Section 1.
  • Issuer-published fund files — the ETF constituent and holdings files we fetch from the fund issuers' own sites. They are public, they carry no open licence, and the issuers' marks and index names are their own.
  • Series carried with their originating agency's credit — macro series retrieved through the FRED® API, where the individual series credit the agency that produced them.

Data sources lists every feed we carry and the licence class each is used under; read it alongside this page for anything you plan to reproduce at volume.
